Konakovo Local History Museum
About museum
Konakovo Local History Museum presents visitors with the history of the district. A distinctive feature of the museum is its display of faience wares, ranging from Auerbach to the present day. The museum opened in 1984, and in its first year it was visited by more than 2,000 people. The museum's collections were supplemented with materials from the flooded town of Korcheva. Currently the museum offers archaeological finds from monuments of the Stone and Bronze Ages, as well as materials from the Old Russian town of Vertyazino. Of particular interest is a map-plan of Korcheva's town layout indicating house owners, which was compiled by the former residents of Korcheva who continued to visit their native land by boat.
