Kolyvansky Museum of the History of Stone Carving in the Altai
About museum
June 24, 1988 marked the official opening of the museum; however, the history of its creation goes back to the 1950s. In connection with the 150th anniversary of the Kolyvansky stone-cutting factory in 1952 several commemorative items were produced – cups, vases and writing sets. During the celebration an exhibition was held in the "red corner" of the club, which was located in the museum building. In 1985 the director of the stone-cutting factory, Boris Grigoryevich Pchelintsev, decided to transfer the entire building of the former jewelry workshop to the museum. The exhibition layout was created by artists from Barnaul – V. N. Malafeev, N. N. Mingaleev and V. V. Skulov.
