The museum is an interesting place to visit for anyone wishing to learn about the history and culture of the Kobyay district. The Kobyaysky Local History Museum was founded in October 1958 at the Kobyay Secondary School. Currently the museum houses more than 2,000 exhibits. The museum receives between 2,500 and 3,000 visitors annually. In 2013 the museum was awarded a grant from the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation as the best among rural museums of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia). The museum offers exhibition halls, permanent displays, as well as class hours, museum lessons, meetings with prominent figures of the ulus and the republic, and lectures on the district's history.
