About museum
In the Kakashurinsky Local History Museum visitors can learn about the history of the village of Kakashura in the Karabudakhkent district of Dagestan, and also see ancient artifacts, household items and a collection of copper utensils. Near the village archaeologists discovered the remains of an ancient settlement dated to the 1st–8th centuries. The museum exhibits items for domestic use, costume ensembles of traditional men's and women's clothing, silver jewelry, scarves, footwear, and carpets woven by the people of Kakashura. The museum collection includes water-bearing and water-drawing jugs, chased and engraved trays, samovars, cauldrons and mugs. Here you can learn about Kakashura residents who were veterans of the Great Patriotic War and the legendary chairmen of the kolkhoz. The museum was opened in 2000 and contains over 1,870 exhibits.
