N.I. Vavilov Study-Museum of the Research Institute of Plant Breeding named after N.I. Vavilov
About museum
On November 25, 1987, the N. I. Vavilov Study-Museum was opened in honor of the 100th anniversary of the great scientist's birth. The idea of creating the museum originated as early as 1970 after a scientific conference on the discovery of the law of homologous series in hereditary variability. Yuri Nikolaevich Vavilov, the younger son of N. I. Vavilov, provided the museum with letters, manuscripts, photographs and literature about the great scientist. Assistance was also provided by employees and students of N. I. Vavilov from the VIR, as well as representatives of the Saratov Agricultural Institute, the Library for Children and Youth, the Timiryazev Agricultural Academy (TSKhA) and others. The museum was equipped with two rooms: one contained original items, and the other housed eight thematic panels dedicated to the life and work of N. I. Vavilov, as well as display cases with his works and literature about him. The museum has collected nearly all published works of the great scientist (about 400), first editions of his works with autographs, letters and books about N. I. Vavilov.
