Ivanteevsky Historical and Local Lore Museum
About museum
Ivanteevsky Historical and Local Lore Museum was opened on December 26, 1992, based on the collections of a people's museum that existed in the town from 1963 until the early 1990s. The collection of materials for the museum began in 1956 at the initiative of a group of veterans of the revolution, labor and the Great Patriotic War. The museum's holdings total more than 19,000 items, mainly documents and photographs dedicated to the town's history. A special place in the exhibition is given to materials about I. F. Gorbunov, the pilot-cosmonaut A. I. Ivanchenkov, heroes and veterans of the Great Patriotic War, peacetime heroes, creative people and honorary citizens of the town. The exhibition features materials on the paper mill, the founders of the fine cloth and knitwear factories, the construction of the fine-spinning factory, the city's production leaders, as well as all spheres and aspects of town life. The museum's highlights include paintings by Ivanteevsky artists and models of wooden wind and water mills, as well as the Dukhovskaya Church
