About museum
In 2011 the Historical and Cultural Center was established, based on the Kholmsk Municipal Natural History Museum, which houses over 10,000 exhibits. The center consists of three halls and two permanent exhibitions: 'Sea Fauna' and 'Local History'. The main specialized hall, 'Sea Fauna', showcases a wide range of animals and plants of the Far Eastern region and the southern seas. The 'Local History' hall provides an introduction to the history of Sakhalin Oblast. The museum also has an exhibition hall where exhibitions of various genres are regularly presented: from children's drawings and paintings to decorative and applied arts.
