House-Museum «Yakut Exile»
About museum
In the House-Museum «Yakut Exile», which was built in 1880 by the prosperous Yakut F.P. Romanov, an armed protest by political exiles known as the 'Romanov Protest' took place in 1904. On February 18, 1951, the historical-revolutionary museum 'Bolsheviks in the Yakut Exile' was opened in this house. In May 2012 it was reopened with a new exhibition 'Yakut Exile', presenting the history of exile in Yakutia from the mid-17th century to March 1917. The exhibition hall displays a board used for corporal punishment from the late 19th century, portraits of high-ranking exiles, archival documents, household items, and the interior of a House of Culture characteristic of the mid-20th century. Visitors can view black-and-white films on various themes of the past century during guided tours. The House-Museum 'Yakut Exile' is a monument of historical significance at the republican level.
