Since October 19, 1979 the historical and local lore museum has been collecting exhibits of cultural and historical significance. The first of these — an ancient icon of the Mother of God, 'Tikhvin' — was entered into the inventory book on September 22, 1983. The museum building houses various exhibitions, including the 'Nature Hall', 'Nature in Wood and Stone', the 'Russian‑Chinese Friendship Hall', the 'Hall of War and Labor Veterans', and others. In 2001 a literary and poetic association called 'Golden Scatter' was organized at the museum and continues its activities to this day. At the meetings poems, songs and prose by local authors are presented. The museum contains 1,126 exhibits. The museum's goal is to educate children and young people in the spirit of patriotism, civic consciousness and high moral standards based on cultural and historical heritage.
