About museum
House of F. V. Patrin is an object of cultural heritage of regional significance and represents an example of provincial architecture of the late 19th–early 20th century, characterized by a combination of commercial and residential functions. Built in 1910 (or somewhat later) by F. V. Patrin (Fyodor Vasilievich Patrin), the house was nationalized after the October Revolution of 1917 and became state property. The second floor contained living rooms for the merchant's family, while the first (ground) floor housed a grocery store and storage facilities. In subsequent years the house frequently changed owners and functions: it accommodated a Komsomol club, a library, a hardware store, a canteen, various shops, the State Bank, the city council, the civil registry office (ZAGS), etc. Since the second half of the 1990s the house has belonged to the museum, which opened to visitors on February 11, 2005.
