Interactive exhibition 'Izba-Tea Room'
About museum
In May 2013 an interactive exhibition was created showcasing the attributes and symbols of a village izba and objects of peasant life from the Smolensk region. At the center of the interior is the well-known 'red corner' with an icon, as well as handwoven rag rugs and embroidered ritual towels (rushnyky). A separate 'women's corner' is highlighted — a stove with pokers, cast-iron pots, milk jugs, bowls and a spinning wheel. In the guest area there is a table, benches and a samovar. The space hosts themed events for all ages with participation from the museum folk ensemble 'Gzhatchanochka', as well as workshops. There is also a museum café on site.
