Blagoveshchensk Historical and Local History Museum, founded in 2000, is engaged in the preservation and collection of museum exhibits and collections, as well as outreach and educational activities. It is located in the city center in a 19th-century architectural monument. In March 2021 the museum was reorganized into the Center for Cultural Development. The museum's collection comprises more than 6,000 items; ethnographic expeditions are conducted and the collection holdings are replenished. In addition, the museum holds up to 40 exhibitions a year, 70% of which are exhibitions from its own collections. The museum provides methodological, consultative and practical assistance, and also conducts seminars and exchanges with other museums in the district. The museum fosters respect for history and the preservation of folk traditions.
