Historical Complex 'Ust-Labinsk (Alexandrovskaya) Fortress'
About museum
Alexandrovskaya Fortress in Ust-Labinsk is one of the most significant fortification structures of the Caucasian Line, founded by Alexander Suvorov in 1778. The first stage of reconstruction was completed more than 10 years ago, and in 2018 a second stage began: the area adjacent to the historical complex was landscaped and the exhibitions were expanded. After the moats, ramparts and palisade were restored, the fortress blockhouse was armed and returned to its place. The cannon replicas were made according to historical drawings, and the molds were crafted by museum staff using technologies of the late 18th–early 19th centuries. The wheels were produced by cast-iron casting, and the metal bases are forged. Even the nuts were made using an old smelting furnace. These cannons are accurate replicas of the armament of the Russian army of Suvorov's era. Here you can visit the historical museum with a model of the fortress, which attracts more than 15,000 Russian and foreign tourists. Reenactor events and demonstration battles recreating historical events are also held here.
