Gubakha City Historical and Local History Museum
About museum
Visiting the Coal Museum, you will gain unforgettable impressions and an understanding of how not only miners but the entire community is connected to coal. For more than three centuries the territory of the Kizel coal basin has been associated with mines, coal and miners. Miners were the heroes of their time; their labor produced tangible results and became the basis of the fuel and energy balance of the Perm Region. In October 2014 the Gubakha Coal Museum — the KUB Museum — was opened. It presents all aspects of the coal phenomenon: its geological history, paleontology, the discovery of deposits, stages of industrial development, and coal as a material of the future. The museum also offers an artistic interpretation of the coal phenomenon. This unusual museum is a monument to the mining past and a story about the future of the combustible stone that was mined in Kizel, Alexandrovsk, Gubakha and Gremyachinsk. Visiting the Coal Museum, you understand the significance of this professional and dangerous work not only for miners but for the whole community.
