About museum
On January 1, 2010, a branch of the Kyakhta Local History Museum named after Academician Vladimir Afanasevich Obruchev was opened in the manor complex of a prosperous 19th-century townsman. The museum building was erected in 1835 and is a 19th-century architectural monument. Previously this building housed the Literary Museum of Buryatia named after Khots Namsaraev, and it was later reorganized into the Museum of History, Culture and Art of Buryatia. The main purpose of this branch is informational and educational work with the public about the activities, history, and rich collections of the Kyakhta Local History Museum. The branch offers group and individual tours, conducts scientific research, presents the permanent exhibition 'Kyakhta: Pages of History', and also organizes temporary exhibitions and thematic activities.
