Kondrovo District Local History Museum
About museum
In the historic part of the town, on the square, there is a museum built in 1912 by the Troitsko-Kondrovo Writing-Paper Mills of the V. Howard Company. During the Soviet period the building was occupied by a savings bank, and since 1986 it has been operating as a community-run museum on a voluntary basis. Here you can see materials on the region's history, paleontological, archaeological and ethnographic exhibits, a nature section, and information about the Great Patriotic War, the Soviet era and the paper industry. The museum also runs bus and walking tours, conducts archaeological surveys, and hosts a local history club. District local-history conferences are held at the museum, and their proceedings are published in collected volumes. Since 2019 a community theatre-studio, "Dialog", has been based at the museum; it uses archival materials on the district's history in its productions.
