About museum
Ethnographic Museum of the Katskars is a museum complex located in former peasant huts and public buildings from the early 20th century. It includes an ethnographic hut with household outbuildings, a literacy school on Progon, a village mini-zoo, Katsky taverns and other structures. Here one can get a complete picture of the life and culture of the Katskars. The museum maintains a card index of the Katsky dialect, hosts interactive museum programs, publishes the journal "Katskaya Letopis" ("Katskaya Chronicle"), and also holds traditional Katsky festivals. Visitors can see animals typical for the Katskars and try village dishes prepared in a Russian oven.
