Gagarin Historical and Local Lore Museum
About museum
On November 7, 1948, the Historical and Local History Museum was opened; since 2016 it has been housed in the merchants' Tserevitinov house, built at the end of the 18th century. In 1812 the distinguished Russian commander M. I. Kutuzov stayed here temporarily. The future cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin also studied here in 1946–1947. Two memorial plaques are mounted on the building. The museum features various permanent exhibitions, including "Flora and Fauna of the Gagarin District", "I Look into the Depths of Centuries with Emotion...", "The Age of Revolutions and Transformations", "Gagarin District during the Great Patriotic War" and "Memory Bequeathed to Us". The museum also offers an interactive exhibition "Pottery Workshop", where visitors can learn about the history and traditions of clay crafts and try their hand at pottery.
