Ecomuseum-reserve "Tyulbersky Gorodok"
About museum
In 2002, by order of the head of the administration of Kemerovsky District, the Tyulbersky Gorodok ecomuseum-reserve was founded; it was opened on June 5, 2003. The main features of the site are a medieval fortified settlement with a rampart, a ditch and remains of houses, as well as a ritual altar. Until 1910 little was known about the settlement, but a surveyor from Barnaul and a local peasant, N. Burdin, discovered it. In 1997–2000 archaeologist Yu. Shirin conducted excavations of the settlement. To the southwest of the settlement, on a terrace of the Tom River, medieval burial mounds were reconstructed, and above-ground and ritual burial structures of the peoples of Western Siberia were recreated. The exhibition pavilion houses the Museum of the History of the Pri-Tom Region, where archaeological finds and dioramas of a Russian izba and a Tyulber yurt can be seen. The site offers visitors unforgettable impressions and an opportunity to learn about the history of Western Siberia.
