Yefremov House-Museum of I. A. Bunin
About museum
In 1985, the literary department of the Yefremov Historical and Local Lore Museum was opened in the house where the famous Russian writer Ivan Andreyevich Bunin lived and worked periodically between 1906 and 1917. Since January 2001 the department has been transformed into the I. A. Bunin House-Museum. The building, built in 1880, was purchased by his brother Yevgeny Andreyevich Bunin in 1906. Since 1974 it has been a cultural heritage site of federal significance. The exhibition presents documentary materials that help to understand the ties of the Bunin family and the writer himself with the town of Yefremov, as well as the motifs from Yefremov that are reflected in his work. The museum displays photographs, copies of the writer's letters, excerpts from memoirs, editions and publications from his lifetime, as well as letters of his nephew Nikolai Ivanovich Laskarzhevsky.
