V. P. Aksyonov House Museum
About museum
On one of the main streets in Kazan stands the Vasily Pavlovich Aksyonov Museum, dedicated to the period the writer lived in the city from 1938 to 1948. The house-museum was opened in 2009 at the initiative of the Kazan city administration. Visitors can see a typewriter, a radio, photographs and items that belonged to the Aksyonov family. In 2007 the city's mayor, I. R. Metshin, proposed celebrating the writer's 75th birthday in his native city. Since then the annual 'Aksyonov-Fest' has been held, featuring themed meetings, musical events, workshops and book presentations. The museum belongs to the Municipal Budgetary Cultural Institution (MBUK) 'Museum Complex of the City of Kazan'.
