Exhibition «Glory Through the Ages, Borodino!»
About museum
The main exhibition of the Borodino Field Museum-Reserve, “Glory Through the Ages, Borodino!”, was created for the 200th anniversary of the Battle of Borodino. It is located in the historic building constructed in 1912 to a design by architect V. V. Voeykov, opposite the museum-reserve's Main Monument. Visiting this exhibition provides an understanding of the relations between Russia and France in the early 19th century, the course of the Patriotic War of 1812, and the foreign campaigns of the Russian army in 1813–1814. Special attention in the exhibition is paid to the events of the Battle of Borodino on 24–26 August 1812.
In the six halls of the exhibition authentic examples of weaponry and uniforms of the Russian and Napoleonic troops are presented. The extensive collection of early 19th-century historical arms complements elements of uniform and gives an impression of the level of development of the armed forces during the Napoleonic Wars.
Of particular value are lifetime portraits of participants in the Patriotic War of 1812 and the Battle of Borodino, as well as works of painting and graphic art that depict views of the Borodino Field at different periods.
