About museum
\r\nIn 1940 the Y. M. Sverdlov Memorial House-Museum was opened, located at 26 Karl Liebknecht Street, where in 1905 an illegal party school for agitators and propagandists was organized under the leadership of Y. M. Sverdlov. It is the successor to the Ural Museum of the Revolution, which was housed in the Ipatiev House. The museum incorporated part of the collections of the Ural Museum of the Revolution, as well as materials about Y. M. Sverdlov. The collection includes original photographs, documents, artifacts, books, old coins, and works by well-known artists. Until 1991 the museum was dedicated to the life and activities of Y. M. Sverdlov. Then, during perestroika, the museum changed its name and focus: in 1991 — Museum of the History of Socio-Political Movements of the Urals, and in 1992 — Museum of Political History of the Urals.
