Bilyar Historical and Archaeological Museum
About museum
The collections of the Bilyar State Historical and Archaeological Museum of the Republic of Tatarstan are unique: they contain materials from field investigations of the Bilyar settlement conducted over the last twenty years (from 1967 to 1987). A.F. Likhachev’s collection in the National Museum of the Republic of Tatarstan from the Bilyar settlement was assembled in the 1870s–1880s and consists of valuable ceremonial vessels made in Iran, Central Asia, and the Golden Horde. Notable examples of Bilyar art include a bronze lock in the shape of a leopard and a replica bearing a beautiful Arabic inscription with well-wishes, as well as a pot with petrified porridge, fishing hooks, bone skates, and other items.
