Bezhetsk City Park
About museum
The city garden, located in the historic center of the town, is a popular place of recreation for local residents. At the beginning of the 20th century the leisure area was quite small — only two alleys and a ravine. Today the city garden is fenced, and the entrance on Bolshaya Street is adorned with ornate cast-iron gates. The park covers approximately 6 hectares. One of the garden's attractions is a monument to V. Ya. Shishkov, which was unveiled on August 20, 1950. On a granite pedestal stands a bronze figure of the writer seated in an armchair, looking out over the town. Since 2001 numerous improvement works have been carried out in the city garden: pedestrian paths have been paved, benches and street lamps installed, slopes landscaped, the bed of the Pokhvala River cleared, and a new footbridge added. In summer the park features a trampoline complex, electric vehicle rentals and a shooting range. Various themed events for children and adults are also held, such as Eco-Sushka exhibitions, contests and other activities.
