Berezovsky Local History Museum
About museum
In 1979 the Berezovsky Local History Museum, established on a voluntary basis, was opened in a wooden building from the late 19th century. Local intellectuals were involved in the development of the institution. In 1988 the museum was awarded the title "People's". The first director was Natalya Elizarovna Filippovich, head of the propaganda department of the district committee of the CPSU. Over the years collections were created that today form the museum's main holdings. The exhibitions feature topics such as "Discovery of Berezovsky Gas", "The Polar Ural", "Archaeology", "Nature", "Ethnography and Clothing of Indigenous Peoples", "Spiritual Culture of Indigenous Peoples", "History of the Founding of Berezovo", "Noble Exiles", "The Merchant Class and the Soviet Era". As of January 1, 2021, the museum has 24,701 storage units, of which 19,730 items constitute the museum's main collection.
