Belgorod State Museum of Folk Culture opened its doors to visitors in a new building located on Belgorod's central street — Grazhdansky Prospekt. In 2014, reconstruction of the building began to be carried out by decision of the Governor of Belgorod Oblast. The building has always been associated with culture and art. It housed one of the city's first cinemas, "Orion", the city theater, a cultural-education college, and an art museum. The building delights with memories of the past: from the city's first cinema screenings to gymnasium balls, charity evenings, and revolutionary agitational productions. The museum's collections hold about five thousand items of traditional folk costume, which are part of our country's rich cultural heritage. In 2005 the folklore ensemble "Ladovitsy" was formed; they perform in the old traditional costumes of the Belgorod region.
