It also offers programs for people with disabilities. The museum was opened on April 1, 1932, and until 1987 was located in Kuybyshev Park. Then, during the Great Patriotic War, the museum was closed. In 1954–1957 it became a regional museum and expanded its staff, added unique exhibits, and made the displays more spectacular. Today the museum promotes local history knowledge, conducts numerous tours and exhibitions, and attracts new visitors. More than 30,000 visitors a year visit the museum, which conducts over 700 tours, hosts a large number of events and at least 35 exhibitions. It is also responsible for organizing city events dedicated to the Days of Military Glory, book presentations and neighborhood celebrations. The museum works with schools and kindergartens and provides programs for people with disabilities. It attracts the attention of many people and helps them acquire knowledge.
