In 1979 the Vologda Oblast Council of People's Deputies decided to establish the Museum of Wooden Architecture of the Vologda Oblast. The Architectural and Ethnographic Museum "Semenkovo" is a federally significant monument located on 12.7 hectares. Visitors can experience the atmosphere of a Russian village of the late 19th to early 20th century, learn about ancestral life traditions, the roots of culture and the mentality of the Russian people. The museum's objectives include active research, restoration, exhibition and educational activities, seeking new forms of work with youth, cooperation with educational institutions, and the preservation of traditional folk culture.
