About museum
In 1979 the Vologda Regional Council of People's Deputies decided to establish a museum of wooden architecture of the Vologda Region. The Semenkovo Architectural and Ethnographic Museum is a monument of federal significance, located on an area of 12.7 hectares. Here you can experience the atmosphere of a Russian village of the late 19th — early 20th century, learn about the traditions of ancestors, the roots of the culture and the mentality of the Russian people. The museum's tasks include active research, restoration, exhibition and educational activities, seeking new forms of work with youth, cooperation with educational institutions and the preservation of traditional folk culture.
