A documentary exhibition 'Born in Siberia' opened at the A.N. Radishchev Museum to mark the 100th anniversary of the birth of writer V.P. Astafyev.
The exhibition features exhibits reflecting the life and work of the writer, as well as his well-known works: collections of novellas and stories for children 'Vasyutkino Lake', 'Strizhonok Skrip', 'The Horse with the Pink Mane', 'Grandmother's Holiday'. Visitors will also find the famous novel 'Tsar-Fish', and the novellas 'The Merry Soldier', 'The Theft', 'The Last Bow', 'The Pass', 'Cursed and Killed', 'The Shepherd and the Shepherdess' and others. The exhibition is accompanied by quotations from Viktor Astafyev's works, displays of the writer's manuscripts, and 1972 linocut prints by artist Boris Mikhailovich Kosulnikov, which introduce the books' characters.
Viktor Petrovich Astafyev is a master of vivid Russian literary language; he wrote more than two hundred works. Films have been made based on his books, plays have been staged, and many of his works have been published abroad in translations into various languages. He portrayed the realities of the harsh wartime period and rural life in his works. The main value of Astafyev's literary legacy lies in the fact that it is interesting and understandable to any person, regardless of age or education; his books teach resilience, a love of nature, strength, and attentiveness.
The exhibition gives everyone the opportunity to pay tribute, show respect and gratitude for the writer's talent and the multifaceted personality of Viktor Petrovich Astafyev.
