From April 4, 2024, the exhibition project 'War and Peace of General Kuropatkin' by the Museum of Military Uniforms and the Vremena Goda hotel-estate will open to visitors at the Museum of Military Uniforms of the Russian Military-Historical Society.
General-adjutant, General of Infantry Aleksey Nikolaevich Kuropatkin is one of the most controversial figures in Russian political and military history of the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
The exhibition project 'War and Peace of General Kuropatkin' invites visitors to delve into the history of the general's personality, showcases the commander’s life path, reveals the general’s pedagogical activities, and provides an opportunity to analyze the scale of Aleksey Nikolaevich's contribution to national history.
The foundation of the exhibition project consists of original documents, items of uniform, equipment and weapons of the Russian army from the second half of the 19th to the early 20th centuries. The exhibition's visual accompaniment includes photographs, posters, examples of decorative and applied art, newsreel footage, and military-themed publications.
'War and Peace of General Kuropatkin' is a large inter-museum project — in total, the exhibition will feature more than 100 items from the collections of the State Historical Museum; the State Museum of the History of Russian Literature named after V.I. Dahl; the State Museum of Oriental Art; the State Central Museum of Contemporary History of Russia; the Russian State Military-Historical Archive; the State Museum of the History of St. Petersburg; the State Archive of the Russian Federation; as well as from private collector Darya Afanasyeva.
