Exhibition 'Gold of the Sarmatians. Art of Ancient Masters'
About exhibition
Exhibition 'Gold of the Sarmatians. Art of Ancient Masters' is based on the gold collection from the funds of the museum-reserve named after E. D. Felitsyn. The central theme is objects from the burial of a noble warrior: a massive gold neck ring (grivna), a twisted bracelet, a fibula-brooch that fastened a cloak at the shoulder, and a garment embroidered with gold plaques. Of particular interest are a dagger with a silver hilt shaped like two intertwined dragons, an iron sword in a scabbard decorated with gold foil, and a goryt — a case for a bow and arrows with gold elements. To date, no more than ten such burials are known worldwide. The exhibition presents over 600 items made of gold, silver, bronze, precious stones, glass and iron, dated from the 2nd century BC to the 3rd century AD.
