Exhibition 'Culture and Everyday Life of the Adyghe in the Late 18th – Early 19th Century'
About exhibition
The exhibition features national costumes created in the century before last, antique household items such as chests, saddles, exquisite Adyghe gold embroidery, precious jewelry, and finely crafted weapons, both bladed and firearms. Some of the exhibits—for example, a bench used in an old folk game—have survived to the present day as unique items. Visitors will learn many traditions and customs, omens and beliefs of the Adyghe (Circassians): why Adyghe tables were always round, what rituals were customary before a hunt, which instrument's sounds could heal illnesses, and why children were not given cradles made of elderberry.
