Exhibition 'The History of the Kamenskaya Stanitsa'
About exhibition
The exhibition 'The History of the Kamenskaya Stanitsa' is dedicated to the town's 350th anniversary. Visitors will learn the history of the stanitsa, which relocated five times, and see unique photographs from the late 19th to early 20th centuries. The displays include weapons, old seals of the 10th Don Cossack Regiment, the 33rd Cossack sotnia, and the headquarters of the Don Host army, Cossack awards, and equipment for horse and rider from the 19th–early 20th centuries. Various types of uniforms are presented, as well as symbols of the ataman's authority — bunchuk, naseka, and a banner. Visitors can learn how boys and girls were raised in a Cossack family, what furniture stood in the kurens, and see household items and clothing. Also shown are products manufactured by the town's enterprises in the 19th–20th centuries. Much attention is paid to Kamensk's cultural life: visitors can see the painting 'Harvest' by Peredvizhniki artist Ya. D. Minchenkov, the musical scores he wrote, and antique musical instruments. Several items can be handled, examined closely and even tried out: iron using an antique iron, use a rubel, and learn to use an ukhvat and a koromyslo. The exhibition contains more than 200 exhibits, each unique in its own way.
