Exhibition "Dacha Tsaritsyno"
About exhibition
The museum exhibition "Dacha Tsaritsyno" tells the story of the dacha settlement that existed in Tsaritsyno from the late 19th century — its residents, their habits and traditions. The exhibition displays memorabilia: books, magazines, photographs, theatre posters, household items, sports equipment, as well as footwear and clothing that give an idea of how the people who lived at the dachas in Tsaritsyno more than a hundred years ago lived, what they dreamed about, and how they spent their free time. In the late 19th century Tsaritsyno was a popular dacha settlement. It was home to entrepreneurs, scientists, politicians, writers and artists. At various times dachas in Tsaritsyno were occupied by Sergey Muromtsev, Ivan Bunin and Leonid Andreyev, and visitors included Fyodor Dostoevsky, Vsevolod Meyerhold, Fyodor Chaliapin and many others. Dacha residents played lawn tennis, rode bicycles, roller-skated, listened to music in Dippmann's Summer Garden and explored the ruins of the decaying imperial residence, which a hundred years later became a museum.
