Exhibition "Brotherhood in Arms"
About exhibition
This exhibition brings together two themes — historical moments of the military history of the USSR and the Mongolian People's Republic in the 20th century. They are: "Khalkhin‑Gol. The Undeclared War." The exhibit is dedicated to the victory of Mongolian and Soviet forces over militarist Japan on the Khalkhin‑Gol River in August–September 1939; and "The Flame of the Great War… Mongolia and the Soviet Union" (fraternal aid). The outcome of the battles at Khalkhin‑Gol confirmed the effectiveness of the Soviet–Mongolian military‑political alliance and its strategy for ensuring state security in the Far East. The USSR helped Mongolia defend its independence and territorial integrity. This victory over Japanese militarism delayed Japan's entry into World War II by almost two and a half years and provided significant support to Chinese and Korean resistance forces in their struggle against the Japanese invaders. At the very beginning of the Great Patriotic War, in June 1941, Mongolia immediately and publicly declared its official support for the Soviet Union in the fight against fascism in the Great Patriotic War of 1941–1945; Mongolia stood shoulder to shoulder. This small steppe country in the heart of Asia gave everything — even its last — for the sake of Victory.
