Cherdyn Local History Museum Exhibition Hall
About museum
In 1989, an exhibition hall was opened in the building of the former Cherdyn Women's Gymnasium, which hosts not only exhibitions but also classes for children, conferences, and museum events. Currently the following exhibitions are on display: “Legends of Great Perm”, “Learning Is Light”, “Permian Gods Go Home” — a collection of Permian wooden sculpture; “On the Threshold of New Discoveries”; “The Mystery of Ko-Ko” — about 30 Komi-Permyak kokoshniks from the museum's collections; “Ancient Metalwork of the Cherdyn Land” — a collection of the Permian animal style of the 7th–13th centuries. On display are: a sacrificial cauldron from the 1st–5th centuries BC; “Sasanian silver” — Iranian dishes from the 7th–10th centuries that were found in the 1930s, some of which are kept in the State Hermitage; as well as books from the 16th–20th centuries, including the oldest — the “Apostle”, printed in Vilnius in 1591, and an icon depicting Saints Frol, Lavr, and Christopher (Psoglavets).
