Tula Historical and Architectural Museum, Kraft House
About museum
The exhibition space “Kraft House” is located in an architectural monument recognized as part of the region’s cultural heritage. It was built at the end of the 18th century and belonged to German pharmacist Konstantin Kraft. The house later changed hands several times, but remained in the ownership of Germans and pharmacists. In 2014 an exhibition space was opened here, which has hosted several ambitious projects. Kraft House offers a unique enfilade space and continues to develop thanks to curators and artists who help transform the old building into a contemporary exhibition center. Topics addressed here include contemporary urbanism, historical topography, architectural graphics, artistic practices, urban photography, and environmental design. In addition, at the beginning of the year a contemporary poster exhibition takes place here, and every two years the “Cartoon Night” festival for independent local animators is held.
