Ust-Maysky Local History Museum
About museum
On November 28, 1964, a resolution was adopted by the Ust-Maysky District Committee of the CPSU to create a public museum of "Revolutionary, Military and Labor Glory." After prolonged work to build the museum's collection, the museum was opened on August 7, 1968. With the recognition of the republic's sovereignty, a rapid revival of national consciousness among the indigenous peoples began. As a result of work in the early 1990s, a large body of material on the culture of the Evenki people was collected, and on December 29, 1994, the Ust-Maysky Local History Museum was opened. Currently the museum has a main collection of 1,682 items and an auxiliary (scientific-support) collection of 1,756 items. The museum conducts educational activities, publishes informational content on social networks, and also cooperates with schools and kindergartens in conducting museum lessons, tours, and other events.
