Ussuriysk Museum
About museum
Ussuriysk Museum is part of cultural heritage sites and was built in 1897 in memory of the coronation of Nicholas II. The city's museum was first opened in 1916 at the initiative of members of the Russian Geographical Society. In 1966, for the 100th anniversary of Ussuriysk, the first permanent halls of the city's history were opened. In 1999 the museum moved into the brick building of the city's first school. Today the museum presents exhibitions dedicated to the history of the Ussuriysk urban district from ancient times to the present day. Also on display are artifacts from the prehistoric era, as well as items of peasant and merchant daily life from the second half of the 19th century, photographs of the city and paintings by the artist V. I. Sheshunov. Temporary exhibitions are devoted to the museum's collections.
