Kostino Estate
About museum
In Kostino, part of the science city of Korolyov, not far from Bolshevo railway station, there is an old estate. Nobles once lived here, and in 1901 it was acquired by A. N. Kraft. Over time some of the buildings were lost, and the main house was severely damaged by alterations. The guest house remains, where V. I. Lenin spent a holiday from January 17 to March 1, 1922. There he wrote many documents and prepared materials for the Genoa Conference. In 1924 a children’s labor commune was established on the estate grounds, and in 1931 the Soviet film 'The Road to Life' was shot here. In 1939 a memorial museum to V. I. Lenin was opened. Today visitors can see a greenhouse, the guest house, and the gardener’s house with an exhibition hall. There is also the 'The Road to Life' exhibition, which tells about the children’s labor commune, its heyday and the lives of the commune members. This place is full of history and attracts visitors.
