Soligalich Local History Museum named after G.I. Nevelsky
About museum
As early as 1916 the Soligalich zemstvo decided to create a local history museum. In 1921 the Soligalich branch of the Kostroma Scientific Society for the Study of Local History was organized, and on November 4, 1923 the museum was opened. Initially its area was 80 sq. m and it included 372 items. In 1926 the museum was moved to a new building and divided into two departments: 'Nature of the Region' and 'People, Economy and Culture of the Region', with a total of 880 exhibits. In the 1920s interesting items arrived at the museum from closed noble estates, including unique portraits of the Cherevins from the Neronovo estate. In 1992 the museum was transferred to the building of the merchant A. I. Zavyalov, and today it houses 12 exhibitions and displays.
