Sharkan Local History Museum
About museum
In 1997 the Sharkan Local History Museum was opened; its collections hold more than 5,000 items: ethnographic objects, paintings, graphics, photographs, and documents. These items come to the museum during ethnographic expeditions across the Sharkan district and as gifts from residents. Exhibitions dedicated to the 320th anniversary of the village of Sharkan and the 150th anniversary of G. E. Vereshchagin have been held here, and a traveling exhibition about the first feature film in the Udmurt language, 'The Shadow of Alangasara', is also presented. In 2014 the museum received a unique collection of thimble ornaments from the 16th–19th centuries. The museum hosts guided tours with elements of dramatization, master classes in decorative and applied arts, overview tours of the village, and museum-educational programs for children and adults.
