About museum
Samara Regional Art Museum is one of the largest museums in Russia. It is one of the oldest and most prestigious exhibition venues in the Samara Region, hosting master classes, lectures and other creative events. The museum building, constructed in the early 20th century, is an architectural monument of federal significance and one of the most recognizable buildings in Samara. The museum's goal is to set the cultural standard and be the 'gold standard' for the city's art culture. The museum's collection, established in 1897, contains more than 17,000 items dating from the late 16th century to the early 21st century. This collection includes works by masters of Russian art such as Aivazovsky, Bryullov, Repin, Surikov, Shishkin and others. The main exhibition is presented in the 'Marble Hall' — the most prestigious exhibition space in the region (292 sq. m). Exhibitions by great artists such as Goya, Chagall and Dalí have been held here.
