Craft Workshop of the M. A. Sholokhov Museum-Reserve 'Tikhiy Don'
About museum
In the historic centre of the stanitsa Veshenskaya, not far from the M. A. Sholokhov Estate, the craft workshops are located. This architectural structure is built in the Upper Don Cossack style with "nizami" (lower) and "verkhi" (upper sections), beneath a hipped (four-sided) roof, featuring window casings and carved finials. It was constructed at the end of the 19th century as a locksmith's workshop for a vocational school. Over the decades the building repeatedly changed its function before becoming part of the M. A. Sholokhov Museum-Reserve in 2006. Today you can learn Cossack crafts here from the museum's masters, and the basement houses a souvenir shop offering various gifts and mementos.
