Porkhov Local History Museum
About museum
The building of the 'Rodina' cinema was built in 1959. In the early 1990s, due to the emergence of videocassettes, the cinema's attendance began to decline. In 2006 the Porkhov Local History Museum occupied the cinema building and began to hold exhibitions. Currently, the cinema foyer houses two permanent exhibitions — 'Porkhov Uyezd at the Beginning of the 20th Century' and 'The House of the Zemstvo Doctor. A Cross-section of Three Epochs'. In addition, periodic event exhibitions are held in the hall. Musical evenings, forums and other themed events are also held in the museum building. There is also a room equipped for screening feature, documentary and animated films. The MBUK 'Porkhov Local History Museum' offers film rental and screening services.
