Nikiforovsky District Museum
About museum
Today the museum in Nikiforovka is the main museum of the district and attracts many visitors.
In 1967, at the initiative of L. N. Kuzin, the first secretary of the district party committee, a museum was opened in Nikiforovka. Its director, in a voluntary capacity, was appointed Pankov Dmitry Sergeyevich, a history teacher at the Nikiforovka secondary school. The exhibitions include numerous panels and display cases with the history of the Nikiforovsky district, as well as a model of the sugar factory made by Tambov artists at Kuzin's direction. The museum presents materials about the pre-revolutionary past, the Revolution, the Civil War, collectivization, industry, education, medicine and culture. In 1968 the museum was visited by the Deputy Minister of Culture, and it also took 6th place among rural museums. In 1985 the museum was moved to a new building thanks to the help of V. L. Ledovsky. However, in 1990 the museum was closed and the building was transferred for use by the tax office.
