Spasskoye People's Historical Museum
About museum
In August 1989 the leadership of the Spassky district committee decided to create a museum and established a public council to collect exhibits. The two‑story house of A. V. Danilov, a 19th‑century Spasskoye merchant and entrepreneur, was chosen as its premises. In 1992 the first exhibitions were organized at the stadium, and a year later the first guided tours were held in the museum itself. On August 19, 1994 the exhibition 'The Spassky District in the Past: Trades, Everyday Life, Culture' was presented, and on May 9, 1995 the exhibition 'We cannot help thinking about this, and we have no right not to remember it…' was opened, dedicated to the heroic hardships of Spasskoye residents during the Great Patriotic War. In December 1995 the museum was granted the status of a people's museum, and from 1996 guided tours began to be held regularly. In 2000 a new exhibition 'History of the Spassky District in the Soviet Period of the 20th Century' was opened, and for the 65th anniversary of the Great Victory the museum's 'Combat Glory of the Spassky District' hall was reconstructed and the displays were updated. In 2011 the exhibition 'Fauna of the Spassky District' was opened.
