National Art Gallery "Khazine" of the State Museum of Fine Arts of the Republic of Tatarstan
About museum
The beginning of the 21st century marked a new milestone in the development of the State Museum of Fine Arts of the Republic of Tatarstan (SMFA RT). Part of the building in the Kazan Kremlin was transferred to the museum to house a permanent exhibition of national fine and decorative-applied arts numbering more than 11,000 works. The gallery's classical building was constructed in 1836 to a design by architect Pyatnitsky and is protected by the state. During the Soviet era a military garrison was located here. In 2005 the National Art Gallery "Khazine" was opened. The permanent exhibition features works of decorative and applied arts, painting, graphics, and sculpture by artists of Kazan, the Kazan Governorate and the Republic of Tatarstan from the 19th–21st centuries. Works of Soviet fine art are also presented here. The gems of the collection include works by N. Fechin, P. Benkov, P. Radimov, A. Rubanov, A. Rudnev, A. Samoylova, and V. Timofeeva.
