Airborne Forces Museum "Winged Guard"
About museum
The Airborne Forces Museum "Winged Guard" opened in May 1994. It is the second museum of Airborne Forces history in Russia. The museum halls are designed in an unconventional (avant-garde) style using various materials: metal, glass, gypsum, mirrors and fabrics. The design itself attracts visitors' attention from the very first minutes. The museum's exhibition is dedicated to the elite and most mobile troops — the Airborne Forces and Ural paratroopers — who took part in the Great Patriotic War and the Afghan War. Among the exhibits are rare photographs, documents, letters, personal belongings, examples of uniforms, equipment and weapons. The museum is unique and publicly accessible; it reflects the history, specifics and current state of the airborne forces. It stands as a monument to the immortal feats of Ural paratroopers of all generations, participants of the Great Patriotic War, the Afghan War and other military conflicts. It is a meeting place for veterans of all wars and airborne soldiers on active duty, as well as for conscripts and people interested in the airborne troops.
